Lakota Knuckle
Lakota Knuckle is a multifaceted performer and dance educator
from Brantford, Ontario with over 11 years of professional experience
in the industry. While training at Lisa Naves Dance Company through
his youth, he competed in all styles of dance and received numerous
scholarships and awards across Canada and the United-States,
including ‘Teen Male Dancer of the Year 2012’ and ‘1st Runner-Up Male
Dancer of the Year 2014’ at American Dance Awards Nationals.
Lakota is well-trained in multiple styles of classical ballet including RAD and Vaganova, which he studied at Stepenova Ballet Academy and Toronto International Ballet Theatre, and in 2015 he travelled to Europe to train at the Salzburg International Ballet Academy, with which he performed in Austria and Germany. Lakota is also an exceptional acrobat, after completing several years or training at the Simcoe Gliders Gymnastics Academy in power tumbling, as well as aerial silks, trapeze, and lyra training with the Toronto School of Circus Arts.
Throughout his professional career Lakota has been extremely privileged to work alongside some of the worlds most acclaimed dancers and choreographers. At a young age Lakota appeared on Family Channel’s ‘The Next Step’ as a dancer in season 2 and 3, and between 2015 and 2019 he travelled to over 20 countries around the world as a dancer and aerialist onboard Royal Caribbean Cruise Line, performing in several of their featured productions including ‘Starwater’, ‘Spectra’s Cabaret’, and ‘Live Love Legs’. Most recently he was selected to performed in More Entertainment’s inaugural production of ‘Rock Of Ages’ by world-renown choreographer Sean Cheeseman, and later this year he will be travelling to Zurich, Switzerland to work with Sean again on two different projects, ‘Art On Ice’ and ‘Station X’. In 2022 Lakota was a company member of the largest repertory theatre in North America, the Stratford Festival, and was a swing for their production of ‘Chicago’, directed and choreographed by Canadian theatre legend Donna Feore.
Beyond his performance career, Lakota is also a passionate dance educator and choreographer, teaching at many studios around Southern-Ontario. He has completed Acrobatic Arts Module 1 Teacher Training program and is currently completing a Yoga Teacher Training program with Karma Yoga as well. He enjoys sharing knowledge with young, aspiring professionals whether in private lessons, drop-in classes or dance conventions.
